Assouline at the Plaza

Several weeks ago I visited this beautiful Assouline boutique inside the Plaza Hotel and had a great experience! I worked with Jose, who was incredibly kind, knowledgable, and patient in helping me find the right book for my son. There is a wide selection of books at the shop ranging from topics like engineering, travel, and fashion, all of which are extremely detailed and of high quality. I highly recommend visiting this boutique if you are interested In a unique decorative piece that helps you learn something new!

We called ahead to ensure we could visit even though we were not staying at the hotel- we wanted to take my husband for his birthday. They assured us we could. When we arrived we were told at the hotel entrance that only one person could go inside the hotel at a time in order to shop in the bookstore. It was such a let down and also something that could have been communicated when we called ahead. Unfortunately it wasn’t as fun for my husband to go in alone and have us stay outside in the cold so he did not enjoy it and did not end up purchasing anything.

Tucked away inside the Plaza Hotel lies a charming little bookstore that's not to be missed. Its eclectic collection of authentic finds is a treasure trove of gift ideas for even the most alternative tastes. The staff is incredibly helpful, with Ms. Maria Pasalidi answering our many questions and providing wonderful gift suggestions.

Loved it! Gloriously open to the public even while the hotel itself is not (ask the doorman). Rich colors, a velvet sofa, and a life-size sheep 🙂 The whole small shop is a balcony, where all those fancy hotel noises come glittering and clinking up.

Out of all their stores, this is one of my favorite! Tucked away in the Plaza hotel, this is not a spot to be missed. Staff is friendly and helpful in finding new books. Love visiting here!
