Make the most of your visit

  1. Check the current location and hours. Follow the store’s website or map link. Holiday hours, moves and closures may not yet be reflected in a listing.
  2. Ask about the book you want. Have the title, author and ISBN ready. Ask about format, condition and whether the store can order or hold a copy.
  3. Plan the practical details. Confirm parking or transit options, step-free access and any other facilities you need directly with the store.
  4. Leave time to browse. Staff picks and unexpected shelf discoveries can be part of the visit. Check the store’s own calendar for readings, signings or book clubs.

Different shelves, different discoveries

New & general-interest books

For a specific new release or gift, ask about availability and ordering. A listing alone does not mean a title is in stock.

Used & secondhand books

Stock can change quickly. Ask about condition, annotations and returns. Call ahead if you want to sell or trade books.

Rare & specialist books

Check the edition, binding, dust jacket and any restoration. For a collectible purchase, ask the bookseller for a detailed description and photographs.

These are browsing tips, not services guaranteed at every store. Use the information on each listing and confirm directly with the bookseller.

Before you go

Are all listings independent bookstores?

No. The directory includes different kinds of booksellers, including chains, independent shops and specialist stores. Check the individual listing rather than assuming a particular business model.

Can I order a book through Touché Books?

Touché Books is a discovery guide. Contact the bookstore or follow an external retailer link to ask about stock, delivery, reservations or purchases.

Are hours and reviews live?

Listings show information available in our records. Hours, business status and reviews may have changed since they were collected. Confirm current details through the store’s own website or map listing.

How can I report an outdated listing?

Use our contact page and include the listing URL, the correction and a public source, such as the bookstore’s official website.
