Official synopsis Publisher
The selected sermons below are intended not just to present Biblical truths, but also to help those preaching and or aspiring to preach to see differing styles of presentation and organization. Some presenting are storytellers, others more didactic, and yet others more historical. Jesus was a master storyteller yet reaching back at times to history and the “Old Law.” Our hope is that the reader will become more thoughtful and engaged in what “works” for them and for those to whom they are presenting lessons. Your teaching and preaching make you responsible to God for all the time you are speaking. If you speak for ½ hour to 100 people, you are responsible to God for 50 hours of His time – all the time of those assembled. You simply MUST be prepared. Knowing to whom you are sharing the message of reconciliation is paramount to effective preaching. The comprehension ability of the listener will control the presentation; the most learned and scholarly presentation may at times be the most useless! Greek and Hebrew is underneath it all, but like your underwear, you do not need to show it off! As you read the various biographies, you will find a rich diversity of interests, life experiences, and training. No sermon is the “property” of anyone, the gospel message is reflected in Jesus words, (Matt 10:8) “Freely you received, freely give.” Each preacher teacher will find what best suits their “style” of presentation, and hopefully will find useful thoughts among the lessons below.
