Jack London (1876-1916) started working when he was a boy. When he was seventeen, he worked on a ship wich sailed the Pacific Ocean hunting seals. In 1896, London joined the Socialist Party. He spent the following year in the Yukon Territory in Canada. His experiences probably inspired his most famous book, The Call of the Wild (1903), wich shows what happens to a domesticated animal as it struggles to survive in the wild.
