Union Ave Books

I’m here on vacation, not looking for much beyond killing some time. This place ended up being one of the better stops.nThere’s a difference between a bookstore and a place that actually cares about books. This is the second one. Union Ave Books isn’t big. You’re not walking into endless shelves and corporate sameness. You’re walking into something curated. Someone made decisions here. You can feel it.nI picked up Dungeon Crawler Carl. Weird book. Loud, chaotic, not something you’d expect to stand out in a typical store. Here, it fits. Feels like the kind of place where a staff member read it, liked it, and made sure it didn’t get buried.nThat’s the whole experience. You’re not just grabbing something and leaving. You’re being pointed, subtly, toward something worth your time.nThe place has a pulse. Staff picks that actually mean something. A sense that people still talk about books instead of just stocking them.nYeah, it’s smaller. Yeah, it’s slower than clicking “buy now.” Good. That’s the trade. You lose convenience and get intention back.nBottom line If you want cheap and fast, go online.nIf you want to remember why you liked bookstores in the first place, go here.

A wonderful independent bookstore in downtown Knoxville, this unique place is such a gem. It's got so much character, a good book selection, and plenty of other fun merchandise to browse. I found a few treasures to buy. I visited in early January, and had the opportunity to check out their Christmas clearance. The staff left customers alone, letting us browse in peace, and were very polite during checkout. Definitely a must-visit for the bookstore lovers.

I am in love with this bookstore. It is absolutely awesome. Really fun magnet selection! Thoughtful and well curated displays. Kind and friendly staff members! Just a great place to be! 🥰📚

Great selection of books of all genres! Loved the ambiance and they had this awesome special edition of Frankenstein I haven’t seen in other bookstores before!

Wonderful bookstore with a great selection of books. Strangely, book stores are becoming gift shops, but this is one that actually sells an amazing selection of great books. My favorite read all summer was one of their recommendations (The Husbands). I love too the diversity of their collection. We found a great book on Dickens, another on evolution, and a fun love story. I appreciate whoever chooses their books. They have a great eye for genuinely fascinating and fun. They do exactly what a good bookstore should do- invite you into new adventures each visit. I would trust any of their recommendations. Great place!
