The Haunted Bookshop

I love this place. Everytime I come back to IA, I always keep visiting this precious bookstore. I see the history of it moved from the street corner to the place where it is now. And see the cats grow old, but the peaceful circumstances always remain the same. Feel like it will still be there when I grow old.

So many titles, well organized, and comfortable space to look around.

Best bookstore in Iowa City next to Prairie Lights. The Haunted Bookshop is the only fully used bookstore left in the city which is unfortunate. They always have good stuff and for very reasonable prices. The cats are very friendly and colorful characters. They have limited parking in the back.

Not a fan.nnThe kitty looked sad and sick. My wife and I thought about scooping it up and taking it to a vet.nnThe staff member looked at us as we walked in and barely registered us.nnI felt sick in the first room where the vintage books were and my wife felt sick in the room above it. The smell of used cat litter permeated the place.nnThere was a fan surrounded by air filters hanging over the staircase by bungee cords. It didn’t look safe.nnIt’s really too bad because I wanted to like this place, but it just felt dirty, not haunted.
