The store was clean, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff was friendly, and there was a good selection of items. However, the prices seemed unusually high for a thrift store.nnFor example, a children’s T-shirt was priced at $4.29, while a brand-new one can often be found for around $8. Children’s shorts were $5.29. The prices for adult clothing were even more surprising, with many shirts ranging from $13 to $17.nnOverall, it didn’t really feel like a thrift store due to the pricing.
I used to love coming to savers. It is a fairly big store with a lot of options, but in the past couple years I noticed an unbelievable increase in prices. I’m talking about 12.99 for a stained long sleeve, but HEY the tag says LL Bean so it must be worth it.nI saw leggings and sportswear being priced extremely high, I mean, in the next plaza there is a Marshall’s where you could get the same things NEW for less. Mind-boggling.nAtrocious prices aside, the store doesn’t offer fitting rooms, and, for the past couple months the self-checkout has been closed, making it extremely time consuming to purchase something, if you are lucky enough to find anything (one day I spent probably a good 20 minutes in line).nIf the store manager or whoever is in charge of the pricing is reading this, please, get a reality check, people are not willing to spend 20$ for a pair of stained Levi’s.
Great items, and a large selection BUT the pricing has gotten ridiculous. For a place selling used clothes/items, they sure don’t price it that way. I went today, spent over $150, and the items were not worth that, especially since they are USED. This has to stop. You get these items donated, the original point of thrifts and discount stores was to help offer clothes at low prices to those who needed it. I was so disappointed to see how expensive this savers has gotten. I hope they make changes in the future to better serve their communities rather than profiting off them.
A lot of great finds. You just need to invest the time to go through things diligently. I am a bit miffed how 1) people bring in filthy kitchen appliances and wares and 2) Savers put them on the shelves filthy. But what really stunned me today was finding 8 different items from the Dollar Tree that sell for $1.25 (a couple pieces from the actual $1.00 era) being sold for $3.49. Do better Savers.
INSANE prices. Savers is no longer the better deal, you might as-well shop new or buy from people listing their items themselves directly. Multiple times I have found Dollar Store items for $4.99. Another time I found a Walmart men’s crewneck for $5.99 with the original Walmart tag that was still attached that read $3 clearance. When I brought it up to see if they can at least match the $3 the manager said the previous price doesn’t have anything to do with their price. Savers also has multiple burned used and dirty candles priced $4+ . Worst of all was when i found a fake leather jacket that was okay but had bleach stains on it, guess for how much? Considering it’s fake (not a high end brand either) with BLEACH on it…. $39. Absolutely insane. I haven’t shopped here in a really long time, even though I used to go every weekend. Now I just make the drive to the GoodWill Outlets in Hamden CT because they charge $1.99 a pound. Hope Savers stops scamming their customers.
