Ok so this place was really cool!!!! Usually the messy bookstores have the best stuff and you have to trade the satisfaction of organization for digging thru piles on piles, well not here! It’s SO organized by topic and genre and I found some really exciting obscure books about my niche interests within minutes

Everyone I've spoken with – especially those who appreciate academic depth and a good bargain – consistently praises the sheer density and eclectic randomness of the inventory, the deeply discounted and high-quality used academic titles, and the wonderful, dusty scent of old paper, emphasizing that every single visit inevitably yields an unexpected, fascinating discovery. I’ve learned from their narratives that the atmosphere is one of unstructured, satisfying exploration and genuine literary surprise, making it the absolute best place to stumble upon that rare edition or obscure text you didn't even know you were looking for. My subjective conclusion is that Rodney's is an irreplaceable, authentic cultural node for book lovers and students alike – it is a mandatory stop for anyone visiting the Square who values substance and serendipity, so carve out an hour and get lost in the stacks!

I bought The Legacy of Muslim Spain, a two volume set, from Rodney’s Bookstore via a link on AbeBooks. The experience was exemplary! First, there were few remaining copies ANYWHERE, but the books were fairly priced. Second, the books were listed as “Used – Very Good”. When I received them, I considered both “Used – Like New”. Third, the books were carefully packaged and arrived much more quickly than the promised date, FOUR days after I placed the order. BRAVO!

Love Rodney's new location and happy that this reliable used book store is back in business! A great collection of classics and more contemporary books. Also some posters for sale in front. Vintage selection of paperbacks near the register. They also have a section of YA books.

I was very sad to hear that Raven was packing up and relocating to western MA. But Rodney’s is keeping the spirit of the place alive, with a great collection of used books (we bought some vintage classics and a cookbook). I will definitely come back! Please keep this place in business-it is so rare to find good used bookstores.
