The employees don't check to make sure donations are complete or even what they advertised as. I was bought a coffee pot that was shrink wrapped with no filter cup and stopper. Or a camping chair bag with two giant trash can frames. For 32 dollars I got an old shower seat, 2 pairs of pants, and a bra for gf. What a waste. I remember goodwill being a lot better thrift store.

I’m Mary Garvey and I grew up in Winston-Salem. I believe this Goodwill on University Parkway was the first one I ever went to when I was 13 in 1972. It changed my life and inspired me to open up a consignment shop, the clothesline, in Greensboro, North Carolina and that is what I did for over 25 years! I’m now 66 years old and I still tell people that the Goodwill on University Parkway is consistently THE BEST ONE I’ve shopped and I’ve shopped at Goodwill‘s in over 20 states. I find designer merchandise and unique styles that are as fine as those from the some of the wealthiest cities in this country. And their prices quite reasonable across the board. I mainly shop for women’s clothing but Winston Salem’s “old money” generation collected fabulous art/pottery/textiles, etc that have been passed down then ended up in Goodwill’s art corner. And the staff there are friendly as heck. They always thank me for taking everything off the hangers.nMy mother (Frances Wilson)is 94 and still lives in Winston Salem so I get in trouble BAD at this Goodwill every two weeks. I LOVE GOODWILL! AND I LOVE WINSTON SALEM!

Still no shopping carts! 11/6/2025.nnPlease put cd's on a higher shelf. You practically have to stand on your head to see them where they are currently displayed.nnPlease purchase shopping carts for patrons to use, and preferably without the annoying and unnecessary pole on them. It's a large store but patrons are carrying things around in their arms due to very few carts. The cart I finally found today either needs the wheel replaced or the entire cart relaced… I practically had to drag it around the store.nnThe winter / long sleeved tops are crammed so tightly together that you can't look at them. Either have a sale or don't put more out until some do sale and you have room.

Decent selection as far as thrift. I got a furniture item where u have two days to get it. They lost it upon return to pick up the next day. Or it got sold twice. Be aware if u plan to return for purchased item.

I understand this is a donation store. But all the goodwill locatiins have a terrible odor. I mean terrible, and I mean all of them. It won't keep me from visiting, just won't stay as long.
