My daughter and I are participating in the Greater Charlotte Book Crawl, and we’re truly enjoying the experience so far. This review is based on the location, availability, and most importantly, the staff. For us, great staff can absolutely make or break a place.nnThis bookstore is now one of our top favorites. There are so many options to choose from, and the space is cozy, perfect for sitting down and enjoying a good read.nnThe staff was incredibly welcoming and genuinely excited to receive book crawlers, which made the experience feel even more special.nnWe will definitely be coming back.
I live in Charlotte and was in the Mooresville area. I went to Baes Burgers and while I waited for my order, I stopped in. Greeted by Rachel who was amazing and had some great recommendations. I love that they highlighted black authors during black history month. The place felt very welcoming and they had an amazing selection. 10/10.
I visited Fred & June’s Books on a sunny Sunday afternoon, driving in from Charlotte—and it was well worth the trip. Tucked into a charming brick storefront in downtown Mooresville, this indie bookstore is cozy, beautifully organized, and brimming with personality. The staff were warm and helpful, taking time to explain the layout and different sections of the store, which made browsing even more enjoyable.nnInside, the shop has a wonderfully eclectic mix: neatly labeled shelves for genres like Horror, Literary Fiction, Biography, and Philosophy; quirky handwritten staff notes; and colorful displays that make the browsing experience feel magical. Whether you’re looking for a thoughtful memoir, a fast-paced thriller, or a quirky comic-style psychology book, you’ll find something unexpected here.nnThere’s also a quiet, personal touch throughout—hand-drawn bookmarks by local artists, vinyl records under a “coffee” nook, and playful signs like the definition of a “book lover” that make the space feel more like a reader’s living room than a store.nnIf you’re anywhere near the area—or even an hour away like me—this is a place worth slowing down for. Parking nearby is street parking, and is usually easy to find.nnBookstores like these keep me scouting for more such bookstores with distinct character.
Absolutely loved this little book shop! Spent a good hour or so here perusing the shelves & looking at the pins/stickers. Both the shopkeepers were incredibly friendly and helpful. They seem to have regular events as well; there was a children’s book reading happening when we came in.nnIt’s definitely got mostly newer stuff, but I was pleasantly surprised to see used titles even for some newer books. You can also put in a request to be notified for used titles that come in or request new books to be ordered for you. I can imagine this being *so* convenient if you live in the area, which I unfortunately do not. The Blind Date with a Book is such a fun concept and I’m excited to see what book I got paired with!nnAlso, good luck Rachael!
Fred & June’s is my favorite local bookstore. Their customer service is impeccable! They are always friendly, super helpful & have the absolute best recommendations. I love visiting the store (probably too much) and always come home with amazing new reads. If you are in downtown Mooresville I urge you to stop in 😊.
