Welcome to the most quaint, comfy, and well-curated little bookshop in the Syracuse area. Doyle’s is a one of a kind shop and a can’t miss for any bibliophile.nnIt is the bookshop of yesteryear, and I must say, every time I walk in, I feel like I’ve stepped into Coreander’s Old Books from the pages of the Neverending Story. The ambiance is peaceful and cozy, with coffee and tea on offer, and a friendly shop owner to make you feel welcome.nnDoyle’s is run by Mike Brophy, and the man is a Saint. He’s got a knack for people and you may find yourself spending hours there chatting with him, as we have. We always feel more like guests over for a visit than shoppers.nnMike is the reason Doyle’s is great – he is truly a curator, always searching for high quality gently used titles online, in estate sales, used book shows, and with other dealers across the country. He will get to know his customers and then seek out books in your their interest areas – often reaching out to let you know when he’s come across something special in your lane.nnIn Doyle’s stacks you’ll find classics, literature, fiction, horror, science fiction, biography, history, photography, philosophy, theology, and most other genres in between. Fully half of his back room is dedicated to a massive Kid’s and young adult section which our children love.nnIn addition to these, Mike keeps a large selection of first editions, signed copies, rare books, antique novels, and other great finds, all in the most fine restored condition.nnLooking for the meaningful gift of a signed copy from a favorite author for the book lover in your life? This is your place!nnAll of Mike’s books are restored, with bindings repaired, dust jackets cleaned and wrapped meticulously so they’ll last for years to come.nnMr. Brophy also supports local artists by hosting book signings, poetry readings, book releases, and independent film premiers in association with other local businesses in the area. This is also what makes Doyle’s a favorite for our family and keeps us coming back.nnDon’t miss out on one of the hidden gems of Fayetteville and the greater Syracuse area. Stop by to see what’s in stock, have a coffee with Mike, and come find your next great read at Doyle’s!
I had a wonderful experience purchasing a book from Mr Brophy at Doyle’s Books during the Florida Antiquarian Book Fair. He was incredibly personable and kind. I was able to pick up a beautiful, signed edition of Mister B. Gone, which I am more than excited to read!
Wandered in to Doyle’s on a whim and spent a magical hour browsing the shelves. Michael was engaging- warm and inviting, took note of a few things I’d be on the lookout for. Look forward to visiting again soon!
Been to Doyle books numerous times and always feels like a trip through history. Michael is very personal like sitting down with a familiar family member you haven’t seen in a while and just picking up from where you last left off. Besides this he is knowledgeable about many topics and can lead you a wonderful array of books of interests. It is very easy to lose track of time there. With so many wonderful selections and with the engaging conversations with Michael you will be drawn back there again and again.nSo glad to have a unique place available as Doyle’s Books.
A store that, despite having only visited once so far, holds a very special place in my heart. The owner is very nice, and chatting with him was the best part. Thank you, and i cant wait to visit again.
