Today (7/11/2026) I had the honor of hosting my very first children's book reading and signing as an author at Barnes & Noble in Temecula. It was a meaningful milestone in my author journey, and I truly appreciated the opportunity.nnThe in-store staff on the day of the event were warm, welcoming, and helpful. When I arrived, they had a table and chair ready in the children's section, announced the reading over the store intercom, and one bookseller took photos of me and my book and shared the event on the store's Instagram Story. Those thoughtful gestures made me feel welcomed and supported.nnThe children who attended were younger than my book's intended audience, but as a former preschool teacher, I adapted my presentation to keep them engaged. The children were attentive, the parents participated, and it was wonderful connecting with families. One of the most touching moments was seeing a family drive all the way from Hemet so their daughter, who had once been in my preschool program, could attend the reading. Moments like that reminded me why I wrote this book.nnThe reason for my 3-star rating is not because of the staff who welcomed me on the day of the event, but because of the planning and coordination leading up to it. Communication before the event was limited, and I often had to follow up myself to find out basic information, such as arrival time and what to expect. As a first-time Barnes & Noble author, I would have appreciated more guidance throughout the process.nnI also appreciated that the store announced my reading and shared it on Instagram while the event was taking place. My suggestion is simply that future local author events be promoted several days in advance through the store's social media and other communication channels, rather than only once the event has already begun. Advance notice, along with the date, time, and recommended age range, would give families an opportunity to plan ahead and would likely increase attendance for both the author and the store.nnOverall, I am grateful for the opportunity to host my first Barnes & Noble author event and appreciate the kindness of the staff who made me feel welcome that day. My comments are intended as constructive feedback because I believe local author events have tremendous value for children, families, authors, and the bookstore alike. With stronger communication and advance promotion, I believe these events could become an even greater success for everyone involved.

I LOVE BOOKS! Barnes and Noble is instant magic once you walk through their door. You’re immediately met with a “fresh book” smell mixed with a hint of Starbucks brew. It’s a book lover’s dream. I love to see both young and old people alike enjoying this store every time I walk in.nnMy Mom and I did a quick run to check out their selection and there was ALOT to choose from when it comes to classics and mystery novels. I wanted to see a bit more diverse texts considering it’s the summer and we are kicking off celebrations of several communities. I’m not saying they only had classics, but they seemed to be the primary focus this time around. Nevertheless, I found many genres such as young adult, manga, cooking, banned books, romance, Spanish texts etc, but we need a bit more variety to amplify more voices!nnI absolutely love that Barnes and Noble has a collectibles & board games, and an entire section for young readers! It’s super inclusive for new readers and collectors alike. I picked up a Funko Pop! while I was at it and a Hunger Games pin, so iconic!nnBarnes and Noble has a several deals like $10 books and light reads for under $10 dollars. If you’re on a budget there’s a few options. The classic books were around $25 for a glamorous hardcover copy of texts like The Odyssey. These covers are gorgeous and perfect for home libraries.nnThe staff are very nice at this location, they always make sure to provide a discount to the Starbucks cafe inside B&N at checkout. My only suggestion is that the restroom be checked more frequently, it had toilet paper on the floor and the roll dispenser looked like it was about to pop off.

Very friendly staff and wonderful customer service. Great variety of books for all ages. Also love that we can enjoy a cup of coffee at the Starbucks that’s inside the Barnes and Nobles. We were a little disappointed with Starbucks because they were out of a lot of drinks.

I’ve been to storytime there once before with my nephew and it was cute. Everyone was very nice. However I went again today at 11:30 AM with my nephew and my niece and I was absolutely disgusted. I could not believe how dirty and disgusting the floor was that my nephew was playing on. I am positive after today. He will probably get sick due to the lack of no cleaning and the tremendous amount of germs that you can clearly see. I will insert a photo of my nephew, and you can see where all the dirt and grime is on the stage not only that but typically they do read a few stories today. One story was read and I think it lasted maybe two minutes my sister then proceeded to take my nephew back into the stroller, wiped off his hands with a wipe. It was covered in black because he was so dirty. This will probably be the last time we will go there for a storytime. I understand kids can get dirty and things happen but today was absolutely disgusting.

My wife and I absolutely LOVE the Barnes and Noble bookstore location at the Corona Crossings. We go there whenever we want to chill. There’s a Starbucks inside the bookstore right next to the magazine racks. We order our iced coffee drinks and grab a few magazines to read at the cafe tables. It’s SO relaxing! Sometimes, we find some magazines we want to buy and with our annual Barnes and Noble membership, we get 10% off off of both the coffee and our magazine or book purchases. We hope this B&N location stays there forever! 👍👍👍
